Strategic Pest Management
Pest management systems are constantly changing. Pests may become resistant to a specific pest management tactic. Regulatory agencies may restrict or even phase out pesticides. Environmental concerns, public opinion and grower needs can influence pest management practices. New and invasive plant, disease, insect and aquatic pests challenge existing pest management systems. The Center seeks to address these issues at the state and regional level. This focus area includes programs that will ensure food safety and food security by fostering the development and adoption of IPM.
