The New Web:
Wireless PDA's and WAP Phones

What
Wireless digital communication of messages, alerts and modified websites. Provides access to and for personnel in the field

How
Uses a modification of web technology called WML (wireless markup language). Allows access to standard POP mail and is served from a standard web server without modification. Redesign of web pages and minor coding changes are required for delivery on the small phone and PDA screens

When and Where
The wireless web is now available in and around major cities and Interstate Highways. Coverage is expected to increase exponentially, at a faster rate than even standard wired web acceptance.

How Much
Typical costs range from $6.95/month (Verizon) to $15.95/month (AT&T) in addition to phone charges ($19.95 up). This is roughly equivalent to standard phone charges. Palm Pilot and other wireless PDA's typically charge from $9.95/month to $29.95/month for wireless connectivity.
